C3 VOLCANO

The new Liberator crew goes to Obsidian, seeking a permanent power base. Dayna's father worked with a mann called Hower who now leads there. The population of Obsidian consists of pacifists, bred by the use of behavioral psychology. Only Hower and his son Bershar retain aggressive instincts. They refuse to allow the crew to establish a base and will not aide the Liberator in an attack by Servalan. Someone from Obsidian has betrayed their pacifist tradition and summoned her.
Bershar is the traitor. He captures Dayna and Tarrant and gives their bracelets to Servalan's commander, Mori, who the seizes the Liberator. He is defeated but takes Orac and Cally with him when he returns to Obsidian. Horrified, Hower kills his son and frees Dayna and Tarrant, who rescue Orac and Cally. The crew returns to the Liberator. Once on board they discover why Obsidian has been free of conquerors. There is a thermonuclear device buried in the massive volcano covering the planet. True to his beliefs, Hower orders the destruction of Obsidian when Servalan prepare to attack. Better death then domination!

C4 DAWN OF THE GODS

The Liberator is being pulled off course. Orac insists that everything is functioning properly. The ship is being drawn into a black hole. Orac is fascinated by the unusual properties of this black hole and wants to investigate. As the ships  spirals out of control, Avon tries to save himself by donning a spacesuit. Tarrant who feels that everyone should die nobly together, stops him. They black out.
Regaining consciousness, the crew finds the ship undamaged but in an apparent empty void. Vila is "volunteered" to investigate what is outside the ship. He finds that the Liberator has landed on Crandor, an artificial world created by Lord Thaarn, a figure out of Auron fairy tales. Thaaran has constructed gravity generators that he uses to capture passing ships to strip them of their herculanium. This adds more power to the generators and with theses, Thaarn plans to conquer the galaxy. The Thaarn is a member of an ancient race that visited Auron eons ago. He recognizes Cally as an Auron and wants to make her his consort.
Avon and Tarrant are put to work making calculations for the generators. Still onboard the Liberator, Orac foils all attempts to get it and dismantle the ship. Cally tricks the Thaarn and the crew is able to escape Crandor.
