C9 SARCOPHAGUS

While traveling in deep space the Liberator encounters an alien ship of unknown design. No life is detected but Cally is uneasy. Avon, Vila and Cally teleport across and discover a corpse laid out in funeral splendor. There's also a mysterious device that Cally picks up.
Zen informs Dayna and Tarrant that there is a dangerous build up of energy on the alien craft. Informed of this, Avon calls for immediate teleport. But Cally, carrying the device is the only one to appear. Frantically, she returns, links hands with Avon and Vila and brings them back to the Liberator  seconds before the craft explodes. Not telling the others, Cally has also brought back a ring from the alien ship. Weird things begin to take place on the Liberator. There's a build up of static electricity and Cally starts to act strange, under the influence of the artifact. She activates the device which glows briefly then disintegrates. An alien appears , draining her life force and slowly taking on her appearance. There is a massive power drain on the ship and both Orac and Zen cease to function.
The alien attacks the crew, but when she comes to Avon, he stands up to her. He dares her to kill him. Having partially absorbed Cally, the alien has some feeling for Avon and retreats. But Avon is able to snatch the ring from her, thus freeing Cally to fight off the alien influence. Together, they defeat the alien. Before she disappears , the alien reveals that centuries ago, on a planet unknown to humans, her people died. But they retained their awareness of passing time even though they were deaf, mute and blind. To end this torturous, living death, the alien tried to steal Cally's body.

C10 ULTRAWORLD

The Liberator encounters an artificially created world. It had to have been build by aliens possessing technology far in advance of humans. Avon wants to investigate, and though the crew is wary, they agree. When Cally is alone, she comes under the influence of force emanating from the planet. When the crew gathers on the flight deck they find that Cally has teleported down. Zen picks up her cries for help and Avon, Dayna and Tarrant go down, leaving Vila and Orac alone on the ship.
The planet turns out to be a massive computer and they are inside it. There they meet the three Ultras who explain that their mission is to gather all the knowledge in the universe and store it in the computer called Ultraworld. They say that Cally is being treated for shock and take them to her. Tarrant discovers that the Ultra mind wipe the species they encounter,  and place the memories in special containers where they become part of Ultraworlds store of knowledge. The bodies are then, either used for menial work or are thrown into the giant brain that is the computer core. The Ultras must serve the core and keep feeding bodies so it can grow.
Both Cally and Avon are mind wiped and before Cally can be fed to the core, she is rescued by Dayna and Tarrant. The pair had distracted the Ultras by pretending to perform the human mating ritual. After battling the Ultras and their menials they return to the place  where Avon is stored. Tarrant attempts to reverse the mind wiping process but the memory canisters are unmarked and he hopes he has it right! Fortunately Avon and Cally receive the proper memories.
By now the Liberator has been brought into Ultraworld. High levels of disturbances start to emanate from the Liberator. These fluxes distract the Ultras and allow the crew to escape into the Liberator. There they find Vila and Orac working together. Vila has been teaching Orac riddles. Orac in turn has been feeding this nonsense into the core. Since the core can only handle logical thought processes, it has becomed disturbed. Orac then feeds the disruption back into the core. As the Liberator escapes Ultraworld the stress is so great that the core explodes destroying the planet.
