D1 RESCUE
Stranded on Terminal, Avon and
Dayna try to find the ship that Servalan has left. Finding it , they see
a Link entering the hatch. Upon entering the Link triggers an explosion
destroying the ship. Avon surmises that it's one-half of a trap: there
must be explosives at the base also. He's right, the base has blown up.
Vila has dragged an unconscious Tarrant to the surface. But when Vila tries
to return for Cally, the entrance closes and there are further explosions.
A telepathic cry echoes throughout the area...."BLAKE!".....Upon arriving,
Avon enters the base and brings out Orac. Cally is dead.
Searching for another way off Terminal, the crew encounter Dorian, who
claims to be in the salvage business. Avon is suspicious and at gun point
forces Dorian to lead them to his ship, Scorpio. Seemingly an ordinary
planet hopper, the ship contains many sophisticated technologies, even
an unfinished teleport system. Avon is even more suspicious but orders
Tarrant to lift off anyway. As they achieve orbit, the automatics kick
in taking the crew to Dorian's base on Xenon.
The crew has been expected for Soolin, Dorian's associate has refreshments
and rooms prepared. While the crew is bathing, Soolin sneaks into their
rooms and removes the ammo clips from their guns. When they all meet again,
Dorian pulls a gun on Avon as he's explaining the nature of the base and
himself. There is a room beneath the base with mysterious properties. It
can keep a being alive forever and cleanse it of all the ravages of "vice
and appetite". Avon scoffs and thinks Dorian mad. Dorian explains that
he has used his extended life to create the ships modification, the ship
computer, Slave and is working on the teleport system. Orac is to help
him solve the problems with the system, He also needs the crew to replace
the dying creature in the "room". Together the crew plus Soolin will form
a Gestalt, a strong creature that will give Dorian added life and strength.
But Dorian has overlooked Vila. Vila manages to get a working gun which
he tosses to Avon. Avon shoots the creature thus destroying Dorian who
crumbles to dust.
D2 POWER
Dorian is dead and the crew can't
get passed a sealed door leading to the Scorpio's hanger. They discover
that there is a timing device that will trigger an explosion if it's not
overridden by Dorian himself. Vila tries and fails to open the door, so
the others seek any other ways out of the base.
The planet is inhabited by two small tribes: the Hommicks (male dominated)
and the Seska (all female). They are the same race but a gender war erupted
splitting the sexes. The Hommicks have been steadily winning and there
are now only three Seska remaining. They had been aided by Dorian. The
Hommicks are semi-barbarians, who have retained some use of their vast
technology. The Seska have survived by the use of telekinetic power and
devices. First Avon, then Tarrant, Vila and Dayna are captured by the Hommicks
but all manage to escape.
Avon distrusts the motives of Pella, the leader of the Seska. He knows
that she's not working on developing a teleport system. He reasons that
Pella is seeking to gain control of the Scorpio in order to escape Xenon.
Avon instructs Orac to impede the others attempts to open the door. Orac
informs Avon that a necklace worn by the Seska can be used as a teleport
device and when Pella teleport into the Scorpio, Avon is waiting. He kills
Pella and teleports the other. At the last minute Vila is joined by Soolin
who demands to go with the crew.
