A6 SEEK-LOCATE-DESTORY
Blake plans to steal a cypher decoder from a top security communications
base on Centero. The plan was to blow up part of the installation so that
the Federation wouldn't realize immediately that the decorder has been
stolen and thus wouldn't attempt to change their coding system. All but
Jenna teleport down. They set the charges and remove the decoder device.
Cally, who is holding a group of prisoners is attacked.
She loses her teleport bracelet and is still searching for it when the
bombs go off. The crew don't realize that she is missing for some time.
The Liberator is many spacials distant and being pursued by missiles launched
from Centero.
Meanwhile, Supreme Commander Servalan, appoints Space Commander Travis
to lead the hunt for Blake. On Centero, Travis realizes that the explosions
are a diversion and surmises that the decoder has been taken. Before changing
the codes, Travis sends a message for Blake to intercept. Cally is alive!
Travis hopes to capture Blake but is unaware of the Liberator's teleport
system. Blake rescues Cally and flees. Travis vows revenge.
A7 MISSION TO DESTINY
The Liberator finds the Ortega circling helplessly in space. Blake,
Avon and Cally teleport in and find the pilot dead and the crew unconscience
due to a gas in the air supply. The controls have been damaged and there
is no indication of who was responsible or why. After reviving the crew,
they learn of the Ortega's mission. Destiny, the crew's home planet was
being destroyed by a fungus, due to radiation that was killing off the
plant life. The Ortega was bringing back a neutrotope that when put into
orbit, would neutralize some of the deadly rays, thus allowing Destiny's
agricultural economy to continue. Blake offers to take the neutrotope to
Destiny and leave Avon and Cally to help repair the Ortega. Enroute to
Destiny, the Liberator encounters a meteor storm, that tosses the ship
about. The container with the neutrotope crashes to the deck. Checking it
for damage, Blake discovers that the container is empty and immediately
heads back to the Ortega.
Meanwhile, onboard the Ortega, a second body is
found, Dortmunn, whom everyone thought was the killer. Soon a third body,
Mandrain is discovered. Still the murderer and reason for the murders are
unknown. Avon suggests that anyone who has the neutrotope would hold the
future of an entire planet in their hands. Looking for clues, Avon realizes
that a message written in the pilots blood is not a code but a name-SARA!
She admits her guilt and locks herself in the control room to await her
partners, who are on their way to rescue her and the neutrotope. Avon manages
to trick Sara out of the room and overpowers her. The Ortega crew teleport
to the Liberator to complete their mission, but at the last moment, Sara
removes her bracelet. Blake has rigged the Ortega's hatch with explosives
and when the rescue ship docks, Sara and her partners are killed.
